DBA'ers,
Anyone can go out of business. Don't get me wrong. We weren't seriously thinking of going out of business, but that does seem to be the trend lately. All the business books at Barnes and Noble say it's always good to stay up to speed with the current business trends. So, we took a look at it. We ran some algorithms, studied some graphs, turned on The Weather Channel and listened to Jim Cantore, then called some guy named Buffett. I was excited cause I thought we were calling Jimmy and instead, it was some guy named Warren that VC talks to. We talked about all the things we would do and all the free time we would have to pursue hobbies and sleeping late and generally being bums, but in the end, we just didn't think it was going to work out all that well. We like what we do.
Of course, the one really great thing about going out of business is the fabulous sale you have when you bite the big one. There is no way around that. You just can't generate that kind of excitement if you stay in business. Look at Denny's. Lord, it looked like they were going out of business yesterday. Gave away food all day. Couldn't stir 'em with a stick. I drove by today and they looked normal again. I think they may have been counting their chickens before they hatched. They may have to work harder at going out of business. I don't think a one day sale will do it.....even if it is free.
Janice brought up a really good point. We haven't been in business long enough to be going out of business. The 2nd of February was our 1 year anniversary. She said we really needed to be in business for 15-20 years first, then go out of business. We decided that it makes a lot more sense. She just isn't ready to quit framing needlepoint yet.
So, to make a long story even a little longer, we apologize for not going out of business and giving away the store, the frames, the art work, the carpet, VC's trash can....all that stuff. But, it would be nice to have our parking lot look like Denny's. We will try and make it up to you though. Our Annual 1st 1 Year Anniversary Sale of our Anniversary of our 1st 1 Year 10% off Sale was so good this last weekend, we are going to run it through this weekend also. So, bring it all in, especially the needlepoint you've been working on all winter. Janice is excited.
Now, I know what you are going to say.....Denny's was free and we are only 10% off. Well, VC's buddy Warren says that's the difference between staying in business and going out of business. But don't forget, we are giving away those little fun size bags of M&M's. Absolutely free. And that's food, too.
As always,
Thanks for playing nicely,
The 10% Off Crew at
