dba'ers,
The caller ID said Warren Buffet when Janice handed the incoming call to VC.
After a brief conversation, VC put the phone down and said, "That was a Bridge partner of mine from Augusta National and he said he thought a Super Bowl Ad would be good for us."
Janice and I looked at each other with blank expressions......"Oh, really?"
"Yep, and he said the sooner you get it done, the better, since everyone will have one by the time the Super Bowl actually gets here."
That was a couple of weeks ago. Since then, we have priced out the cost of an ad on Super Sunday. By my calculations, we would have to be open for the next 143 years before we could afford to pay for one ad this year. VC was undeterred by this information and suggested I wasn't thinking big enough.
So, we produced a TV ad.....sorta.
It doesn't have any sound (that was extra) and it isn't on TV, it is on YouTube. Which, in case you are wondering, is considerably cheaper than a Super Bowl Ad on real TV. By my calculations, about 143 years cheaper. But it still does several things. First, it highlights some of our unique one-of-a-kind pottery and gifts....just in time for Christmas. Also, it shows off some of our wonderful framing customers (love that part....the look of people's faces when they get to see the end result....absolutely wonderful!), and our new message for 2009. You will have to watch the video to see it. And of course, we put it at the end of the 2 minute clip so will have to watch all of it.
One suggestion Janice and I have for watching the video. Since it doesn't have any sound (remember, that was extra) we think you should hum your favorite tune as you watch it. VC leans towards "Battle Hymn of the Republic". Janice hums the theme song from "Lawrence of Arabia" (the part with all the French Horns). Milli says "Chinatown" from the Doobie Brothers. I hum either classic Frank Zappa, or Johnny Cash (with a dash of Red Hot Chili Peppers thrown in for seasoning). My point is, have a good time with it!!
