DBA EMAIL: 11/26/2008

November 26, 2008

dba'ers,

Commerce artist Kevin Burchett walked into the store this morning and dropped off the two attached original acrylic paintings (the bulldog and rabbit). The other animals are also available (cow, owl, and pig). He also is interested in doing other animals, but this is so new, he just hasn't gotten to the rest of the animal kingdom yet! In respect for everyone's email inbox, I'm attaching the following link if you want to see the other animals.....www.drop.io/ kevinsart .

When we saw what he brought it, it was an "Oh my...." moment.

This is a brand new style for him and very few people have seen it. We weren't planning on sending out another DBASpamNet email til next week, but these got our attention and got us excited. So excited, VPVC said ASAP!!

So, here we go.......

This series of paintings Kevin calls "Quilt Animals". They are 18x24, acrylic and numbered. No two will be exactly the same and we are the official spot in the universe to buy them. They are $350. They can also be bought for $340 plus a home made pie (yes, we can still be bought with treats). We are taking orders and since these are originals, the sooner the order is placed, the better for Christmas.

A short Kevin history is probably appropriate at this point for those of you who don't personally know him.

Kevin Burchett is a Commerce native and has been drawing since he can remember. He recalls, as a child, laying in the floor, in front of the TV drawing. We have met past teachers who said he drew through their classes as a kid (Now they smile about it. Not sure they did then). We've met old friends, who said they never knew a time he wasn't drawing something. Past co-workers at The Pottery, always admired his work, often on scraps of paper or napkins. In fact, it is hard not go into a place of business in Commerce and not see at least one "Kevin" print on the wall. He is a product and proud son of Commerce Georgia.

Most of his years have been graphite, which arguably, is best summed up in his very successful "Munson Radio" print. It is an autographed, limited edition print of Georgia's famous Larry Munson and a tribute to his place in Bulldog history.....Kevin style. Starting this year, Kevin has expanded his palette to include color folk art prints focusing on Commerce, reminiscent of Maysville's Mattie Lou O'Kelley. The originals of these prints are done in oil. He also claims Charles Wysocki as a major artistic influence.

All his originals have recently been sold to a collector, which is a very important event in an artist's career. The moral of our story is, if you own Kevin's work, especially originals, hang on to it (think Mattie Lou O'Kelley giving her stuff away back in her day and what it is worth now). If you don't own some of Kevin's work, now is the best time to buy some before it becomes crazy expensive. And, of course, we wouldn't be telling you all this if we didn't have it or have it available! We may be "Friends of Kevin", but we also are in business to sell stuff.

Give us a shout if you are interested. We can work out the details ASAP....just like VC says.

Thanks for playing nicely,
The Friends of Kevin Club (Commerce Chapter)
