dba'ers,
VC, our VP of Marketing, has given me permission to make some public comments about the economy in our neck of the woods.
The economy of the spirit.
Three weeks ago, we approached a Board Member of the Boys & Girls Club of Jackson County with an off the wall idea of having a Yart Sale.
This weekend, we were the location of a fund raiser for the Boys &Girls Club. In two days, The Boys & Girls Club of Jackson County raised over a $1100 from donated art. From the beginning of the blue sky concept to the execution of the fuzzy verbal plan, individuals and companies from Jackson County and beyond all "bought in" and made it happen.
I'm not going to name names or point out any individuals or companies who spent their money and time, both personal or corporate to make "something out of nothing" in such a short time frame. First, I would leave people and companies out, and that wouldn't be fair to them. I don't even know all the people who were involved. Second, that wasn't what this event was about.
This event was about the teamwork of an organization and community that believed it was doing the right thing. It was about people supporting each other, their local community, and their own beliefs. It was about being creative and finding the one right reason to make something happen as opposed to letting the fourteen wrong reasons to rule the decision making process. It was about doing the right thing for the right reason and getting the right results.
Thanks to the people who donated art.
Thanks to the people who bought art.
Thanks to the people who worked the event.
Thanks to the people who made things happen.
Thanks to the people who believed.
And this.....is what makes Dollars and Sense in today's economy.
As always,
Thanks for playing nicely.
